Interesting! Though agreed, no big surprise. Can’t wait to get back to Chicago to try another one of his spots…he needs to open up a place in NYC.

Off to St. Louis! →
After seeing Up in the Air this week, my sister sent me this link to an article in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch that details where in the city the filming took place - and it’s a lot more than you would expect! As I touch down at Lambert tonight, I’ll definitely be thinking about George Clooney in the check-in area staring at the departures/arrivals board…wishing he were there...

I love Crystal Light - does this make you want to drink more of it?

To go along with the below.. →
Not sure why I’m just discovering this now, but Eater NY did a list of the 38 Essential NY Restaurans in ‘09 back in November. While I’ve been to some on the list..there are definitely other’s that I need to try, especially Al di La and Little Owl - I know, the second one needs to happen ASAP.

The next time you have an out-of-town guest ask where they should go to do some serious shopping, send them to this link! This list was put together buy the folks at Racked.com and it even includes a map and short description of their picks. I am very happy to see that they included The Strand and Housing works, two of my favorite spots!

Weekend of Movies.
As I mentioned wanting to do earlier in the week, I completed my goal of seeing both The Young Victoria and Crazy Heart this weekend.
I highly recommend both! The Young Victoria, starring a delightful Emily Blunt, is a great pick for anyone that loves British films of the Jane Austen genre. It’s a great historical feel-good flick, especially on a snowy weekend.
Crazy Heart is equally as...

The Gawker Decade: How Gawker Media Defined The... →
meredithnyc:
Gawker Media was founded in 2002. In the seven years since, its founder Nick Denton has built an empire of Hearstian scope and ambitions and forever changed the game, how it’s played — and who gets to play it. From a one-person blog written by a media outsider from Wetumpka, Alabama — you may now know her as consummate media insider Elizabeth Spiers — Denton built an empire on the...

Great review by A.O. Scott on what looks like a stellar flick. This and Emily Blunt’s “Young Victoria” are both on my to-do list for this weekend. Has anyone heard anything on either yet? Or want to join me? :)

Last night I had the pleasure of dining with a girlfriend at the new Italian spot, corinso, owned by Lupa partner Jason Denton. Not only is the ambience warm and inviting, located right on my dream block in the West Village (Hudson and Horatio) - but the food was outstanding. And best of all, the $10 glasses of wine were in fact really two glasses of wine…as they came...

Sing off.
I’m watching the first night of the four nigh special “Sing off” on NBC. Anyone else watching? As a Glee fan….I have to admit, I like it so far.

Tom Colicchio interview on WSJ.com's Speakeasy →
Ok so I know this article came out on Wednesday…but there are some great highlights on potential next cities for the show, and also his thoughts on how this season’s contestants would match up with past season’s…sorry, Hosea! HA!
The Second Annual Interfaith Holiday Baking...
jhnmyr:
I’ve always had a problem allowing the full brunt of Holiday Cheer into my heart. It’s not that I didn’t want to - in fact, I tried harder than anyone I knew - but I think I was going for the wrong points of reference; TV commercial holiday cheer can be nearly offensive if you didn’t happen to have the kind of year that saw you making friends with an omni-ethnic fully gorgeous group of...

At Hanukkah, Chefs Make Kitchen Conversions →
I really appreciated Joan Nathan’s article in today’s NY Times. Even though the gentile member of my family is my dad and we never really had to worry about him trying to interpret the Jewish traditional meals for my mom; he’s definitely had his share of potato pancakes, gefilte fish and the like through over thirty years of Jewish holidays spent together. And I certainly think he’s embraced...

Ryan Reynolds is gorgeous.
Last night I had the pleasure of attending one of the monthly performances of “Celebrity Autobiography” held at the Triad Theater on the Upper West Side.
At these performances, an all-star line-up of actors and comedians read excerpts from real celebrity autobiographies. Last night we were able to see among others, Rita Wilson perform from Ivana Trump’s book, “The Best is Yet to Come;” Rachel...

The Daily Beast Talks About Cleaving. →
The Daily Beast’s Rachel Kramer Bussel posted a story this week, “Of Meat and Men” on Julie Powell’s latest novel, Cleaving: A Story of Marriage, Meat and Obsession. Powell also wrote Julie & Julia, and as a result, there has been much hype over her latest work. This one, follows the author’s foray into a butchering appretinceship and also describes her affair...

James Franco on Why an appearance on 'General... →
The Wall Street Journal printed this op-ed by James Franco today on why his current 20-episode story arc on General Hospital qualifies as performance art. I am particularly interested in this story because I have been 1. a soap opera fan since age 5 when I began watching them with my mom after school and 2. a GH fan since 7th grade when I got reeled in by the Lucky/Elizabeth teen romance story...

Tonight, my sister made the most delicious (gluten-free!) pizza ever from Real Simple. Get the recipe here. Seriously. Go get it now.
We swapped radicchio for spinach (we bought radicchio, but it ended up being rotten inside). The spinach tasted just fine with the other ingredients — but what DOESN’T spinach taste fine with? We also added some hand-cut pepperoni (my...

If I had leftovers of turkey, I would totally make this delicious recipe for Chicken (or Turkey) Pita Nachos from What’s For Lunch, Dot. Looks like I’ll just have to buy some chicken in the near future and make it :).

– Don Draper, Mad Men (via mascarah)
I finally watched the season finale of this season’s Mad Men last night. Wow. It really made me love Don Draper even more, despite all his misgivings. And it also made me despise Betty more, if that’s possible.
I can not WAIT for season 4. In the...
