Last night I had the pleasure of dining with a girlfriend at the new Italian spot, corinso, owned by Lupa partner Jason Denton. Not only is the ambience warm and inviting, located right on my dream block in the West Village (Hudson and Horatio) - but the food was outstanding. And best of all, the $10 glasses of wine were in fact really two glasses of wine…as they came with a full glass and a carafe to re-fill your glass after your first go-around. Amazing!
Also important to note - they played GREAT music, and you could enjoy it while still being able to hear your dinner companion well, despite it and the other diners. It was a great spot for a catch-up dinner…affordable drinks and you can hear one another, two key factors which are often hard to find in this city at a downtown restaurant.
We started our meal with two of the crostini (one with brussel sprouts and pecorino, the other with cannellini beans and artichoke - both equally delicious) and a scrumptious parmesan risotto croquette, which I could have eaten a million of they were so good. We then shared a side of brussel sprouts, Tagliatelli with lamb ragu and Heritage Brisket Meatballs with tomato and pecorino. The portions for each were very large compared to some other Italian restaurants with similar menus in the city - and I couldn’t get enough of any of it.
We finished the meal with the Tiramisu, which was some of the best I’ve ever had. It truly melted in your mouth, YUM!
If you’re looking for an Italian spot downtown where you can get a good glass of wine - that’s affordable and delicious, be sure to check out corsino ASAP. You won’t be disappointed!
